Geocache Description:

This is a nice little Multi located along an old roadway where people often walk their dogs the stages are quite close together.

*** UPDATE MAY 2022

There has been some major changes to the area since I placed this cache 8 years ago I have never really done any maintenance here so it is amazing that some of these stages are still here ... tattered and beaten up but still here ... however it looks as though stage 1 and 2 have been destroyed .... and it will be very hard to fix ... for the time being at least the new starting point will be the former stage 3 and it is located at N 51° 9.292 W 114° 12.803 From there you can work your way trough to the final and sign the log

Former stage 1 was a 2 foot tall 2 foot wide brick building made to look like the license plate factory at Shawshank prison complete with tar and mops on the roof once you removed the roof you would find a bucket full of icy cold bohemian style beers with some instructions to get to stage 2 .... former stage 2 was a lock n lock with an electronic music machine inside that played the Italian opera music when you opened it ... you know the song Andy played the record for the entire prison to hear ... much to the wardens dismay. Stage 3 is a copy of Andy's prison cell hole in the wall and pin up poster included and this stage is still in great shape ... Stage 4 is that stone wall under the oak tree near Buxton with the black obsidian rock the Titanic tin and note from Andy to Red as well as the cash Andy left him this stage is still in great shape as well ... stage 5 is a tribute to Brooksy and Red's halfway house and the end of Brooksy's life and the moment Red decided to get busy livin or get busy dying and this stage is still in great shape but weathered for sure ... the final is the beach in Zihuantanejo where Red finds Andy working on his boat you can no longer see the palm trees sand and water but the container and logbook are still there under what used to be The Beach ... you can see some of these stages in the photos below in their previous glory ... Enjoy!!

Welcome to the Shawshank Redemption.

This cache has a theme based on my favorite film of all time, each stage will have a container and props with a theme from the film as well as clues and coords to the next stage. You do not need to know anything about the film to find the cache or enjoy the hunt. This cache is the second in my favorite film series of caches, this one is only half as long as the first in the series which is called "TITANIC" but each stage of this one is spectacular. Also the location for this cache was chosen with the theme in mind as it is located in NW Calgary not far from the Spyhill corrections facility a fitting location for a cache based on a Prison film.

The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 film that tells the Story of Andy Dufresne a man falsly accused and imprisoned for the murder of his wife and her lover. Andy's first couple years in prison were very hard but he eventually made some friends including his best friend "Red" and things eventually got a little easier for Andy. This is where our adventure begins.

Good luck!!!

Now "get busy living or get busy dying" and remember "hope is a good thing"

Cheers!!

Diddy.
