Geocache Description:

This trail is a journey back in time from modern life to the dangerous Prohibition days and into pre-history. This cache is at the start of one of the coolest trails in Brisbane.  Please remove it carefully, bring your own pen, and replace exactly as you found it.

This trail represents a labour of love from many folks in Brisbane - from the City Government which has been acquiring land that leads onto the Mountain, to the San Bruno Mountain Watch who have worked tirelessly to maintain and restore the ancient habitats on this mountain, from the many volunteers who contributed their time, to David Schooley, the heart and soul of our Mountain.  This trail is in many ways a testament to his energy and thoughtfulness, his easy laughter and the quiet joy he takes in our ancient fauna.

Brisbane has a history of lawlessness and during Prohibition many of its steep canyons hid stills and speak-easy's. The trail starts with a nod to those times before entering a forest of dwarf oak trees.  This trail also introduces a modern invention not found in many Brisbane trails  - the Switchback.  What a cool idea!  After finding the cache, please take the time to explore.  The trail meanders through several ridges and ravines before connecting to the Ridgeline trail in San Bruno State and County Park.

Along this trail you will see coyote bush, monkey flower, hummingbird sage, red alum flowers, mountain iris, dwarf oaks, and some poison oak. 3/4 of the way up you will find a bench with a wonderful view!
