El municipi del Port de la Selva disposa d'un bon nombre d'associacions dels més diversos àmbits. Aquestes associacions, que funcionen gràcies a la dedicació voluntària dels vilatans, dinamitzen la vida social, cultural, etc. del poble. Aquest fet en si mateix no és res extraordinari, ja que es dóna en molts altres petits municipis. Ara bé, al Port de la Selva destaca i molt l'Associació de Voluntaris de Protecció Civil, tant pel nombre de membres com per la seva activitat, sent una de les associacions d'aquest tipus més actives de Catalunya en relació a les dimensions del municipi.
En particular ens volem referir a les tasques més relacionades amb el territori del terme municipal del Port de la Selva, inclòs en gran part dins el Parc Natural del Cap de Creus. Per amagar el cache hem triat
un lloc, prop del camí que uneix el GR-11 (sender de gran recorregut que arriba al Cap de Creus) amb la punta de Puig Gros, per recordar una actuació de salvament que va tenir lloc el maig de 2009 en aquests paratges i que, tot i que l'Associació de Protecció Civil encara no estava constituïda en aquell moment, va mobilitzar centenars d'habitants del poble, coordinats per l'ADF ocal, en un gran dispositiu de recerca al qual també van participar bombers, policia, etc.
Aquests voluntaris van dedicar aquella tarda i la següent nit a escombrar tota la zona, renunciant entre altres coses a gaudir de la final de la Champions League que el Barça va jugar (i guanyar) amb el Manchester United just aquell vespre.
Volem doncs dedicar aquest amagatall a tots els voluntaris de protecció civil i defensa forestal del Port de la Selva, el gran esperit de cooperació dels quals es va posar de manifest, com en altres ocasions, aquella tarda de primavera de 2009.
L'amagatall el podreu trobar no pas lluny d'una de les pistes de terra de la zona (accessible en cotxe, millor si és 4x4), entre Mas Puignau i Puig Gros. Podeu deixar el vostre cotxe a l'inici de la pista de terra (waypoint) o també al trencant que surt del GR11, una mica després de Mas Puignau, cap a Puig Gros (coordenades principals)

The town of El Port de la Selva has a several associations related to diverse fields. These associations, which work through the voluntary commitment of the villagers, stimulate the social life of the village. The Civil Protection Volunteers Association of El Port de la Selva stands, both in membership and activity, being one of the most active associations of this kind in Catalonia (in relation to the size of the municipality).
Here we want to refer to the tasks related to the territory of the municipality of El Port de la Selva (largely included in the Cap de Creus Natural Park). Tasks such as forest fire prevention and fight, people rescue, etc. To that effect, we have chosen to hide this cache a site near the path connecting GR-11 (long path that reaches Cap de Creus) to the area of Puig Gros, to remember a rescue action that took place in May 2009 in this area. Although the Civil Protection Volunteers Association was not yet established at that time, that action mobilized hundreds of villagers, coordinated by the local ADF, resulting in a big mobilisation which also involved fireman, police, etc.
These people spent that evening and the following night to comb the whole area, renouncing to watch the final of the Champions League that Barça played (and won) against Manchester United just that evening.
Thus, we dedicate this cache to all the Civil Protection and Forest Defense Volunteers from El Port de la Selva, who showed a great spirit of cooperation (as in other occasions) in that spring evening of 2009.
The cache can be found next to the dirt track that goes to Puig Gros area. You can get the place by food (or bycicle), parking your car at the car park area (waypoint) or even at the point indicated by the main cache coordinates, just at the beginning of the dirt track that goes to Puig Gros area. But it is also possible to get the cache place by car, specially if you have a 4WD.
