The decision to place a cache at this site was made after I was describing geocaching to my class of Year 4s. During my description one of the boys interrupted me by telling me not to let the muggles know what we do. That was when I found out that nearly 1/4 of my class were from geocaching families. We decided right then that we needed to place a cache near school so that others could discover our amazing place of learning.
Waterloo school is proud to be one of the biggest in the Hutt Valley with 23 classrooms and just over 500 students. The school prides itself on delivering a high quality, well rounded education to all of its students. As well as boasting extremely high quality teaching staff, the school offers a huge range of extra-curricular activities to its students. These include sporting teams that compete against other teams in the valley, enviro clubs, chess club, two choirs, ukulele bands, student bands, a teachers band, an amazingly well stocked library and up to date technology in the classrooms. There is also a peer mediation programme that empowers the students to proactively and possitively handle conflict. This is run by the students and is for the students and staff. There is also an arts scholarship programme (WETAP) that is involved in runing arts programmes and offering tuition in musical instruments, dance and visual arts to children that would benefit from this.
We love our school and hope that you take the opportunity to learn a little more about this amazing gem in the Hutt Valley.
