Come on out, clean up some trash at a very cool Earth Cache! And collect two souvenirs in one day!
When - Sunday Aug 3rd. @ 12pm to 2pm.
Where - At the big long rock! ;-)
This cito is at the oldesnt EarthCache in NC and little known piece of geological history that runs clean through NC. Come see the batholith, give it a bath and we do a win-win-win situation. The park wins, and we win two souvenirs. (Park Ranger's are aware of the EC here and even have offered to allow placements of physicals with permit).
We will walk around the batholith and simply pick up any trash we see. I think this place is a hidden treasure and should be kept free of human induced trash. You will see some very cool vegetation as well (one oak tree has spanish moss on it). As well as peculiar formations in the batholith we think the native's used as "cooking pits" - There is also a virtual near by for Mitchell Millpond.
Parking can be limited - so try to carpool. Parking on the side of the road near the somewhat obsucre entrances is allowed. Please be careful.
