Antes, el Alcalde de Torrevieja, junto con la totalidad de la Corporación Municipal, recibía a la delegación ovetense, encabezada por su Alcalde, que vino acompañado en su visita a Torrevieja por el Primer Teniente de Alcalde, Agustín Iglesias Caunedo, y la concejal de Bienestar Social del Ayuntamiento de Oviedo, Belén Fernández Acevedo.
Oviedo y Torrevieja, Torrevieja y Oviedo son dos ciudades que desde ese momento laten en un mismo corazón. De este ritmo vital se alimentaran innumerables relaciones, lazos, vínculos y tradiciones, es un hermanamiento que ha surgido del pueblo, de Torrevieja y Asturias con su "Centro Asturiano" que pone, así, un rotundo broche de plata a la celebración de su 25 Aniversario.

On the 4th October 2008 the cities of Torrevieja and Oviedo (Asturias) were officially bonded in the Meeting Room of Torrevieja Townhall by the Major of Torrevieja, Pedro Hernández Mateo, and the Major of Ovido, Gabino de Lorenzo Ferrera.
