Geocache Description:

Welcome to Winding Creek

With almost 2 miles of hiking trails, this site is a great example of both woodland and prairie communities.  These distinct ecosystems makes this site one of the best.  There is also a 1 acre fishing pond on site.

SITE CLOSED November 1 - January 18 It is dangerous and illegal to enter the site during these dates

Diversity

As you enter the site off of Johnson road, notice the diverse, mesic prairie restoration project on both sides of the road leading to the District amenities (bathrooms, shelter, etc).  As you hike the nature trail, you will see the ancient oak grove and high quality portion of the Nippersink Creek that this site protects. You can also see some lovely rose bushes along the trail near the parking lot, remanents of when there was a residence on this site.
