Tropical Tent Spider:
Family Araneidae.
Average body length 5-12 mm.
Identification: Colours from cream to grey to black to white. Abdoman overhangs the carapace. Legs are banded.
Habitat: Built up areas, trees, shrubs, low plants close to water. Found generally in gardens in South Africa.
Customs: Often forms colonies. Β
Venom: Harmless to humans.
Web: Complicated fine horizontal wheel web.
Food:Β Insects.
Reproduction: Long egg sacks.
