Geocache Description:

CITO approved by Don Bergeron, State Park manager and coordinated by Art Carton, Park Services Specialist.

Munyon Island is a 438 acre estuary and is part of John D. McArthur State Park. The island has 7 plant species and 22 animal species designated as threatened or endangered. You can read more about the island via: http://www.macarthurbeach.org/munyon-island/

I have been wanting to do a clean up effort on Munyon Island for quite some time and am so glad to bring this CITO event to the park.  The island needs any assistance to clear trash and debris and keep it clean and enjoyable.

The event starts at 8am at the posted docking coordinates for the island and ends at 10am. High tide at 9am, so this works out as a great, early, not too hot time. Kayak launches from one of many locations around, most are about a 30 minute paddle to the island dock. I will post more launch points closer to the event.

Important note. I realize not all geocachers have a kayak or boating means but do want to help support their community and environment. I have arranged with the park for 8 people to ride on the park boat with Don B. First 8 people to indicate they need a ride.  You must be at the shop off of US1 by 7:20. I will also post those coordinates later.

All event participants will need to sign the usual waiver before beginning.

Clean up supplies will be provided to all that attend!

Bring plenty of hydration as it will be warm and also any snacks and sunscreen.  The island does not have bathrooms FYI.

I am working on fees waived for those that want to enjoy the park after the clean up. It's a great park! You can read more about the park at this link.

See you all there!
