Geocache Description:

In 'Praia Formosa (Formosa Beach) there is a a little church named after a Saint of the Remedies that was reconstructed in the nineteenth century.

In those times the sick would go to the fountain waters found nearby, which are named after our Lady of Mercy, looking for cures for their illnesses.

This fountain located at the right side of the final part of the small river, situated at a short distance from the small church.

Being the access to this fountain very dificult we looked for a water point, dated back to 1950, that is located near by the small church and the fountain of the Lady Mary.

As far the historian Gaspar Frutuoso, there has been a miracle, happenened in the fountain of Saint Mary beach, 'Saint Mary gave medicine and cure to a stoneworker, named Pedro Afonso, that lived in Valverde, was very ill and been in a sick bed for three years'.
