Geocache Description:

Briežu dārzs izveidots 2005. gadā, netālu no viesu nama, dzirnavām, "Mazsālijas". Iežogotos aplokos ganās dambrieži, staltbrieži un mežacūkas.

Mazsāliju dzirnavas celtas 19.gs. sākumā un ir ziņas, ka ēku būvdarbi pabeigti 1810.gadā. Muižas laikos tās piederēja barona fon Hāna dzimtai, bet 30 – tos gados Mazsāliju ūdens un tvaika dzirnavu īpašnieks bijis ģenerālis Mārtiņš Peniķis, par melderi strādājis Nikolajs Zariņš. Dzirnavās malti milti, gatavoti putraimi un grūbas, notikusi labības šķirošana un tīrīšana u. tml.. Vēl tagad dzirnavās redzamas divas turbīnas, ar kurām ēkas apgādāja sevi ar elektrību. Tāpat no dzirnavu darbības gadiem līdz mūsdienām saglabājušies dzirnakmeņi.
