HURRICANE! Traditional Cache

Cache is an ammo box located just inside the woods near an old roadbed that was once part of the Hurricane route. Parking is best along Hwy 46/170 on the EAST side of the traffic circle. Please pull well off the road as the shoulder is wide and be mindful of traffic merging from the circle. There will be bugs and other wild critters in their habitat all around you, so take precautions and watch your step.

Here in the Lowcountry we occasionally get a "lunatic wind" that thrashes us without mercy. The seas rise, boats become airborne, homes are destroyed...and Jim Cantore somehow stands on the beach through it all. One of the worst aspects of these seasonal visitors is the mandatory evacuation that empties our islands and towns...and puts us all bumper-to-bumper along the highway as far as the eye can see. Most Lowcountry residents have memories of these events, sitting in traffic in a car filled with kids, dogs, cats - and all the bread and milk that Piggly Wiggly had left.This cache is in honor of these brave pilgrims and is located along one of our "Hurricane Evacuation Routes". Our oldest spacepup is fascinated by wild weather and always looks for these important blue and white signs. He suggested this spot for our latest geocache hide. Congrats to 2Wolfes for FTF!!
