This photo gives a bit of an idea of what was collected at the recent Wainuiomata Hill CITO A Capital Event by a small group in a short period of time. The red line on the map below shows the area that was covered, both by the roadside and along the track below. The Orange line shows the area that was untouched, again along the roadside and the nearby tracks as shown on the map. It was generally agreed it would be good to 'finish the job', hence another CITO opportunity.
What:
A CITO event cache
Why:
One of Groundspeak's missions is to support parks and outdoor recreational areas (often through Cache In Trash Out)
This well frequented area could do with a good tidy up.
This is an opportunity for us to give something back to the environment from which we geocachers benefit greatly in the pursuit of our hobby.
An opportunity to introduce others to the wonderful world of Geocaching
And of course, another good chance for a catch-up, a natter, and maybe even a friendly hint from a cache owner where some assistance may be required!
Where:
Wainuiomata side of the Wainuiomata Hill Road, from the top of the hill to the last bend heading downhill. Looking to tidy up along the roadside as well as the track that starts at the top of the hill and heads downhill (the grey lines shown on the map). This is a walking track, and some of it is shared with cyclists.

When:
Saturday 23 August 2014 between 0830hrs and 1030hrs.
Who:
All are welcome to take part - both geocachers and non-geocachers alike.
You'll need to bring:
Sturdy boots/shoes (note the terrain rating I've given this one)
Gloves. I'll have disposable gloves available, however if you have your own it would be appreciated if you could bring them.
A raincoat if the weather looks dodgy
A bucket and/or rubbish bag(s)
High viz would be good if you'll be doing the Wainuiomata Hill Road
I'll provide:
Rubbish bags
Hand-wipes/sanitiser
Updates will be added here as required so please log your intention to participate to ensure that you receive them. I hope to see you there.
Please note, this event is also not intended as a drive-by
Parking:
There is plenty of parking at the given co-ordinates at the top of the hill.
