Geocache Description:

This cache is on the Kohekohe Loop Track near the start of the Northern end of the new Te Araroa Paekakariki to Plimmerton cycle and walkway. It was opened to the public in September 2013.  When you are on the cycle walkway, take the turn off on the left of the track marked 'Kohekohe Loop Track'.  It is well signposted. The cache is at the end of the native bush section and to the left of the track just as you get clearance from the bush (assuming you have gone around the loop track in a clockwise direction) .

I spotted this loop track when completing the Paekakariki to Plimmerton series of caches by Yeetrees and thought it would be a great track to place a few caches.  It is a walking track only and not suitable for bikes. Bush walks are my favourite areas to cache and I really enjoyed walking around this one. I had hoped to place a couple of caches, but due to the shape of the loop track and surrounding caches, could only manage this one.

When placing this cache I reckon I must have walked back and forth around the track three times trying to squeeze in that second cache so hope that's enough temptation for those that have already done the Paekakariki to Plimmerton series.  For those who are yet to complete it, it's one more reason to check it out this beautiful area.

Through the native bush it can be a bit hard to follow the track in spots, but it's well marked out by pink triangles placed on the trees around eye level if you keep an eye out for those.  If you are bringing along the geo-kids then keep a close eye on them as the track is quite narrow in parts as well.  The views on this track are amazing and the walk takes you through a stand of kohekohe that are quite breathtaking.   The sign says the loop track is a 50 minute walk, but I would expect cachers with medium fitness could complete in much less even allowing for search and logging time. I wouldn't attempt this track in rain as I would expect part of the track would get quite slippery.

YOU ARE LOOKING FOR:  A 200ml camoed Sistema container that contains a logsheet and TB.  BYOP.  Please replace exactly as you found it.
