Cache is located within the relics of the Norumbega Amusement Park. From 1897 through 1963 Norumbega was the most popular amusement park in New England hosting hundreds of thousands of visitors to its rides, zoo, arcade games, vaudeville theatre, and the finest ballroom in the region - the Totem Pole. At one point, ABC, NBC, and CBS each broadcast from the Totem Pole on a different night of the week. A fascinating history of the park is located
here. The clearing with the cache is the remains of Kiddie Land and other rides which included the Whip, the Caterpillar and of course....the Lindy Loop
Best parking is in front of the Commonwealth Veterinary hospital at corner of Commonwealth and Woodbine. Trail from there leads right to the cache. This cache is in the typical clear medium Geocache Container. Included plenty of game tokens. Not the original game tokens from Norumbega, but still a nice reward for a hard search.
p.s. If you explore further into the park you'll have some great views of the river. At the time of Norumbega, hundreds of amorous couples would rent canoes. The resultant "canoodling"led to
grave concerns about moral decrepitude of the youth and the opening of a police station to patrol the waters. Kids in 1905 were such trouble makers!
Cache was stolen. New cache placed in February 2023.
