Geocache Description:

The Cache is located across the Diablo dam. There is a gate at the top of the road that is open from around 745 am to 430 pm before or after that you can park out side the gate and walk down to get the cache THE CACHE IS NOT ON THE MULE HOIST. FEEL FREE TO LOOK AT THE MULE HOIST BUT PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH IT. THANK YOU There is no Cell service in the area

The Diablo dam was finished in 1930.  It is the second dam that Seattle City Light built on the Skagit river.  It is 1180 ft. long, 389 ft. high and has 19 spillgate.  The first 3 spillgate on the left bank can be opened and closed from Seattle by remote control.  The other 16 gates are opened with the mule hoist that is stored close by the Cache.  The mule hoist has to be pushed out on the tracks to the gate that is to be opened. Then hooks on the hydraulic cylinders are hooked into the chains and the gate is raised a few feet at time.
