Geocache Description:

One-room schools were commonplace throughout rural portions of Pipestone County in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

According to the History of Pipestone County published in 1911, this district was organized on April 26, 1879. This district was the first in the Grange Township. The schoolhouse was known as "The Beyers School." According to locals this school had three rows of double seats. The district closed in 1954, the students were transported to the Holland District in 1954 and then eventually to Pipestone. All that is left are the trees and the driveway. The original school building was moved into Pipestone. It sits across from the Hiawatha Pageant grounds at 515 North Hiawatha Ave. For more information about all the country schools located in Pipestone County please feel free to visit the Pipestone County Museum. This is a small container just holding a log, so bring your own writing tool. TOTT may also be needed.
