Geocache Description:

A nice walk down a quiet country lane with established hedgerows. It's a dead end leading to houses, so suggest you park near the top of the lane if driving so you don't block the path of any residents going to and from thisr houses.

Greatham Mill house is a listed building:

House, with mill attached at the north end, and barn (garage and store) at the
other end. Late C18 or early c19. Brick walls in Flemish bond, with blue headers
to the mill part: the barn has walls of brickwork, ironstone and boarding. Hipped
tile roof; with brick dentil eaves to the house, which has 4 gables to the rear:
the mill roof is of slate (double pile): the barn has a separate hipped tile roof,
extended to a lower eaves at south and west. The house and mill has a continuous
front (south-east) elevation of 2 storeys, 2 storeys and attic, 4.2 windows, the
mill showing coupled gables of wider span and greater height. casements. Plain
house doorway (early C19) with moulded canopy on small coupled carved brackets and
6-panelled (2 top glazed) door. The mill front has upper and lower doors, and a
wide cambered arch in the northern half, leading to the wheel housing: the lower
walls are of ironstone, where they meet the embankment. The barn (a timber-frame
of 3 bays with 2 aisles) is set back and touches the house at its south-west corner.
The rear elevation of the house indicates by the brickwork that the roof was
formerly a catslide, but was raised to form the gables. A feature of the mill is
the retention of its interior, with machinery, now unusable by the diversion of the
water supply.
