A quick multi cache.
Tung Chung New Development Ferry Pier services Tuen Mun, Tai O and Sha Lo Wan. Ferries are operated by Fortune Ferry and are relatively infrequent. As well as being a very popular spot with local fisherman, from here you also get good views of aircraft departing and arriving and the day to day transport of staff moving out to the Macau-Zuhai link road which is currently under construction.
This is generally a busy area with many commuters and a small restaurant so stealth will be required to make the find.
I’ve created a math puzzle to be completed to make the find. It shouldn’t take too much time to complete however you may need a pen or calculator for some working.
For those that are drawing a mind blank on algebra, you can try this… http://www.algebrahelp.com/calculators/equation/
Phase 1 - By order of…
Law is important in Hong Kong, not excluding maritime law. Look for a piece of maritime law at the co-ordinates given and complete the sentence ‘By order of…’.
Take the last word. This will give you 6 numbers
ABCDEF
Each letter will correspond to it place in the alphabet ie. A = 1; Z = 26
Use this formula to get the first part of the co-ordiantes.
X = 2F(C x (D-F)) - (2E + C + B)
N22º 17.X’
Phase 2 - Storm Surge
Make your way to the western side of the ferry pier. The are a number of bollards that form a wave break . Vessels have to make a S-bend to pass through.
Count the number of bollards to form the next co-ordinates where Z = number of bollards.
Y = 26(Z + 2)
E113º 56.Y
Phase 3 - Make the grab
Once you have to coordinates, make the find, and be careful not to loose the cache (or yourself) to the water.
Good luck!
