The Emerald Ash Borer is an invasive species that feeds on and destroys ash trees. It was first introduced to the US in 2002, when it was believed to have been shipped from Asia in infested ash wood. Since then, ithe larva has been wreaking havoc on North America's ash trees. It is a small, metallic green, bullet-shaped beetle about 8.5 millimeters long. EAB larva can spread via infested firewood. Several states, including New York, have taken initiatives to stop the beetle.
