Long before a church was built, the area was evangelised by monks from Tavistock Abbey. The base of the ancient preaching cross still remains in the churchyard. Robert Le Dun became the first rector in 1266.
If you approach the church from Tedburn please drive slowly and look out for a few strange objects on the way. When you are in the church doorway turn round to see the chimney on the nearby cottage. Also near the church is the Town Farm Donkey Sanctuary.
