Geocache Description:

This is the second of 10 geocaches hidden by a retired teacher from the area. Once a teacher, always a teacher! A little story about the area always makes the geocaching experience better!  Good Luck as you follow US Rt 19 South from Exit 91 through to Flatwoods where you can jump back onto I-79. Or you can count down from 10 to one from Flatwoods to Roanoke! 

All caches are Park & Grab with swag!

ROANOKE, WV, is just a fond memory now for those folks who used to live here. Stonewall Jackson Lake was built about 1986 by Army Corps of Engineers and folks were made to move elsewhere. Each year there is a ROANOKE REUNION that is held on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. As you stand on this side of the road, look to the lake where the gate opens and that is where the town of Roanoke used to be. Roanoke Elementary School was relocated to Oil Creek Road.
