Apart from a village hall dating from 1905 the only other significant public building in the village is the parish church. The Parish Church is basically medieval and, before the Reformation, was dedicated to St Blaise. It was rebuilt in 1836 and again in 1874 by C J Neale of Mansfield, probably re-using some of the original medieval masonry. The west tower of 1912 was built in thanksgiving for the recovery of a child of the Fitzherbert family. One of only two pieces of stained glass in the church is found in the tower; the other is at the east end of the building.
One of the characteristics of this village, and of this church in particular, is the peace and stillness which almost every visitor comments upon. You are more than welcome to wander around the church and churchyard and enjoy this stillness.
