Geocache Description:

Ketchum Parks and Recreation Summer Camp and the “Park Rats” have taken on the sport of Geocaching!  We are placing new geocaches in the City of Ketchum to help you learn about our City Parks (bet you didn’t know there were 12!). we love geocaching and learning more about our great State and hometown.

This cache was muggled again so we have replaced it in a new spot ...again. They left the log book and container this time, we don’t want you to miss this sweet little park so it’s there but no bling, we’ll refill it later.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MYAKAISAURUS FOR FIRST TO FIND!

As the Geocaching.com rules apply, we will not be setting up a cache in any of the three parks at or near Hemingway Elementary School (our summer camp base). Many of you have been to Atkinson’s Park on 8th Street for your sports but have you also stopped by the Bike Park just south of the school or the “Watch Me Grow Garden” on the NE corner of the school property just off 10th Street?  Test your skills at the Bike Park then go check out our garden; the garden even has a bed growing veggies specifically for the Hunger Coalition and the rest of the produce goes into camp lunches. Please visit them when you’re done with our quest.

The class has learned to use three different GPSs, each have been used for coordinates so they may be slightly off the mark.

LUCY LOKEN PARK
The park—located along Trail Creek—was previously an uninhabited public space. For years, no one cared for the small parcel of land except longtime Ketchum resident Lucy Loken. She lived next door to the open right-of-way years ago and would often plant flowers and look over the property, said Ketchum Parks Superintendent Jennifer Smith. When she died, so did her garden.
When neighbors, families and friends heard that the half-acre tract would be made into a park, they thought it only suitable to bestow the park with Loken's name. The park's transformation includes newly planted trees, an open grass area, a meandering stone stairway, restrooms, a drinking fountain, and a trail leading to Trail Creek.
"It's a great lunch spot that gives a person the feel of being far from the busy downtown area," J. Smith said.
