Day Into Night Cache at Big Muskego Lake Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The Day into Night Cache at Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area is a traditional 3 leg multi-cache, with a twist.  The first two legs of this cache should be found during daylight hours. The third leg of the cache is a night cache.

The Day into Night Cache at Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area is a traditional 3 leg multi-cache, with a twist.  As the name implies, the first two legs of this cache should be sought during daylight hours.  Although the first two legs can be found at night, the coordinate markers will be much easier to find during the daylight.   The third, and final, leg of the cache is a night cache.  The coordinates will take you to the start of the reflector marked path to the final cache location.

All three segments of the multi-cache are located in the recently created Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area.  Following the successful rehabilitation of Big Muskego Lake in 1995-96, the Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area was established in 1999 to protect the area surrounding this shallow lake. The city of Muskego and the DNR have partnered to protect hundreds of acres around the lake. The area surrounding the shallow cattail dominated lake consists of native prairie, scattered oak woodlots and small wetland basins.

DO NOT TRESPASS ONTO PRIVATE LAND.  This is extremely important when completing the second leg of the cache.

Note that the wildlife area is a patchwork of public lands and private lands. The borders between the public and private lands are well marked.  All cache segments can be found by staying on the public land.  Carrying a map of the area will assist you in staying on the public land and off of the private land. You can find a map of the wildlife area by clicking: Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area Map

We hope you enjoy your time exploring the Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area.
