The Secondary route 553 begins in the town of Hjørring and ends in the small town of Syvsten.
It is/was approximately 33.7 kilometer long. 31.7 kilometer in bee-line.
The Secondary route 553 begins in the middle of Hjørring town, where the road is called Østergade (East Street).
The progress has divided the way out of Hjørring town into several pieces with multiple names.
The Secondary route 553 between Hjørring town and the town of Tårs, is called Sæbyvej, but before the motorway E45 to Hirtshals was built, the route was running through the town Ilbro.
In the town of Tårs the name of Secondary route 553 is Bredgade (Broad Street), and from the Tårs to the town of Sæsing, the Secondary route 553 is called Sæby Road.
