This cache is situated within the Anakie Gorge. The easiest and most direct route to the cache is the Anakie Gorge Discovery Walk, which follows Stony Creek along the gorge to the Stony Creek picnic area (3,5km one way, flat track). From there it is a steep 80m climb from the path.
Whilst out doing the local caches here I was amazed at all the little nooks, crannies and caves vaguely in sight on the steep hills, like tunnels into the earth signifiying some underground network. Combined with exploring caves, I also enjoy the occasional steep climb, as whats most rewarding is the view once your up top.
This cache is a simple trad with a view i hope you'll enjoy. The tricky part is getting there, making this a D4 1/2. Essential that you have good footing, and a stick is also handy to keep balance and take weight. Do not attempt this alone and utilise another person at the bottom to call out the safest route there and back. Please do not attempt this cache if you uncomfortable with steep climbs o unsteady on your feet.
If you can find an easier way to get to the cache- good luck!
