In a March 2014 email to Saltchuk, an infinitely patient BC cache reviewer, I promised him that one day I would author an "Everything I learned about Geocaching, I learned from Saltchuk" novel. Although I'm no author, this cache is a tribute to his work as a reviewer and for dealing with the brunt of my cache submissions (with an honorable mention to the Wizard of Ooze and Finn Tully, who haven't had to deal with as many of my mine).
Thank you Saltchuk, Wizard of Ooze, Finn Tully, Cachin' Cricket, and all the other Volunteer Reviewers!
Some lessons learned included - don't place caches within 161 metres of each other (but 170+ metres is recommended), don't place caches in front of residences, don't place caches near schools, don't place caches near vehicular bridges, don't places caches near train or skytrain tracks (48 metres), don't place caches that disturb soil, don't place caches near condo developments without express written permission, don't place caches that could be mistaken for pipe bombs, it's okay (nay, encouraged) to request a proximity check, there's a somewhat complicated queuing system and map the reviewers manage, and there are mystery caches all over the place which generally interfere with (my) placing caches. (Disclaimer: This is in no way a complete list of do's/don't's - just some things I learned on the way.)
Geocaching wouldn't be possible without your efforts.
All this to show that I have clearly tried and tested and gotten on every last nerve, but throughout my eager, newbie bliss, I have been patiently guided and assisted along every step of the way. Thanks guys for the reviews to date, the many more reviews to come, and for all the work you do as volunteers!
Thanks for reviewing my 60th cache!
