Geocache Description:

As part of our endeavor to get the community out in some sunshine and get active we have placed several caches at various family friendly locations in the Coorong Area for your enjoyment.

Families can go for a walk around the walking trail that runs along the outside of the lake, and a lawn area for a picnic is also provided.

Lake Indawarra is an artificial water body, having been excavated as a borrow pit for railway ballast. The lake was created by railroad workers in 1905 and was named "Lake Indawarra" in the 1980s.

The local Lake Indawarra committee have undertaken considerable works to improve the amenity of the lake surrounds.
The lake is usually wet though out the year, however the lake and groundwater levels dropped far enough in the summer of 2007/8 to allow the area to be restored and reshaped.
A small island (485m2) was created in the centre as part of this effort, which is used by nesting birds.

A great family friendly place to visit with walking trails and picnic areas.

The cache is a PVC with screw lid located near a parking area.

Thankyou to Team Scoobster for the creation and placement of this cache.
