Farland point used to be home to the "coup" before the town's refuse was taken to the White Bay coup, now closed and is still the site of the huge Millport bonfire on special occasions.. One small bay is strewn with shards of old china and pottery ware and glass, all worn smooth by the sea and, for those with an artistic bent, a useful source of material. The point is also a favourite fishing spot. Looking inland towards the Farland Hills the vague outline of Queen Victoria's profile is still just discernible, with half-closed eyes! On the craggy cliffs behind her, fulmar and other sea-birds make their nests.
Theres a great phoho op nearby with the washed up tree trunk, try to get a photo of a boat (or the powerstation) through the roots that make a natural frame
