Geocache Description:

A great place to stretch you legs, or walk the dog or search for sea glass. We found a huge bag full the last time we were there.

Cache on inland side of road so it doesn't wash away, please take care of traffic.

Near to the cache were three short cists were found at Fintry Bay when a tumulus (described as a sand hill) 30-40ft long, 60ft in circumference 10-12ft high was dug through in August 1873 by men making a new road around the island. The cists contained blackish sand or greasy looking substance. They were 4-5ft down, at the outer edge of the tumulus, and resting on solid rock.

The site of these cists was re-excavated in 1978. 2 cists were examined but both were found to be empty.
