Fintry Manor House.

The Fintry Manor House visible from this cache is one of several historic buildings within Fintry Provincial Park. Built in 1910-1-1911, then rebuilt in 1924 after a fire, it  is part of a large estate once owned by the wealthy Scot, James Cameron Dun-Waters, from 1909 until 1938. Other buildings include the Octagonal Barn and the Packing House on the lake from which fruit left by sternwheeler to be shipped all over the world. Dun-Waters first wife, Alice, is burried nearby, under the rose bower at the side of the lawn. Beyond is the Labryinth where you can follow the complex route of gravel paths amongst plants leading to its centre - a good amusement for young and old alike The Manor House and Museum contain historic artefacts from the Edwardian era. Dun-Waters’ vision turned the Fintry Delta into a “Garden of Eden” with a pelton wheel to power irrigation a sawmill & electric light, orchards & dairy cattle and the first telephone in the Okanagan Visitors will experience life in the Edwardian age by taking tours of the Manor House and the Octagonal Barn.
