Geocache Description:

A traditional cache hidden in a non-traditional way!

A cache on a track between Reed and Barkway within site of the masts sited alongside the Reed Joint roadway. Fabulous views to the North with the former Barrington cement works and Addenbrooke's hospital Cambridge in the distance. The further of the two masts in view was a radiocommunications base for the Royal Air Force, but was vacated in 2006. It was subsequently sold by the Ministry of Defence as surplus to operational requirements.RAF Barkway opened in 1942. A notice board in Barkway shows how a plane flew into and partial demolished the mast during the war. The mast is 107m high.
