This monument celebrating Haledon's history is a project of the Killion Family and the Cook Family in 2013.
On this site stood Saint Mary's Memorial Episcopal Church. It was founded on August 26th, 1866 as the Oldham Mission and was the first church of the Oldham section of Manchester Township which later became the borough of Haledon. The cornerstone of Saint Mary's was laid in November 1866 and the church held its first Christmas service later that same year. Saint Mary's Memorial Episcopal Church closed its door in 2005. the church tower held this bell that was taken from the old Brundred factory.
The Brundred Factory the first industrial facility in what later became Haledon was established by Benjamin Brundred circa 1842 in Oldham to manufacture cotton and woolen machinery and employed 100 workers at its pesk. Mr. Brundred named the Oldhan section after his birthplace in England.
