Suivez l'Avenue du Semaphore pour entrer au milieu des 44 Hectares, quartier de chemins de sable pour aboutir à un point de vue sur la Dune du Pyla. On y trouvait l'ancien "Café-restaurant Roux-Bassin", créé au début du 20ème siècle et repris en 1914 par le couple Hortense Crampé et Louis Semmartin, mais ce premier bâtiment s'effondre dans la mer en 1936.
Veuve depuis 1925, Hortense rachète un terrain quelques mètres en arrière en 1938 et ouvre un nouvel etablissement avec sa fille Zaza.
Les allemands construisent un blockhaus pendant la 2 ème guerre mondiale ... A l'eau lui aussi ! Le bassin et ses courants sont les plus forts, comme témoignent les digues sans cesse renouvelées.
Aujourd'hui reste un restaurant, un incontournable du bassin, fréquenté par les people.

Great view on the Pyla. The first building, called "Café-restaurant Roux-Bassin", was created at the beginning of the 20th century and bought in 1914 by Hortense Crampé and Louis Semmartin, but it fell into the sea in 1936.
Being a widow since 1925, Hortense bought a new piece of land a few meters away and opened a new place with her daughter Zaza in 1938.
The Germans built a blockhaus, but it fell into the sea too ! The Bassin and its currents are too strong.
Nowadays remais a restaurant, an unavoidable place where famous people like to come and eat.
