Our mother became interested in Lapidary in her later years and when she passed my brother Rocky and I discovered several plastic pails full of beautiful polished rocks in her closet. Rocky still leaves polished rocks in some of the caches he finds, in honour of our Mom. She got our brother-in-law interested in the hobby and he took it to the max, making jewelry, clocks, belt buckles and more from the exotic stones he collected in his travels. Sadly, he passed away in January 2013.
For Blitz 2013, Rocky created a cache in tribute to both of these rockhounds but bureaucracy intervened to remove it from the game. In the spirit of GC4D09W B13:Rocky Banks’ Rocky Bank, and in celebration of Rocky's milestone birthday (#LXV!!!), I offer this humble clone cache. Even though they aren’t really all that well “polished”, feel free to sort through the collection of rocks in this cache and help yourself to a favourite you would like to either keep or move along.
This trail is popular with fisher-folk, dog walkers, and just plain ordinary muggles so please be stealthy. The hiding spot is within one metre of the trail edge Step very carefully on the rocks and not on leaves in between them. I did, and I postholed up to my thigh!
Please make sure the cache is securely closed and well-hidden when you put it back.
Happy Birthday Rocky!!
