Geocache Description:

Cowboy was on his way home to Cortez from a long trip to Silverton.  He was beat and his horse, Gunner, was tuckered out.   As Cowboy almost fell out of his saddle with drowsiness, he failed to see the prairie dog colony in front of him.  Gunner dropped his foot into a prairie dog hole which tossed Cowboy into the dirt and sage.  When Cowboy jumped up he realized that Gunner had wrenched his front leg.

Cowboy knew the horse should not be ridden so he walked toward Cortez with his limping horse in tow.  After two or three hours of walking in westerm boots, Cowboy saw a dust cloud in the distance.  As it approached, Cowboy could see it was the Durango-Cortez stage coach.  The coach driver pulled up the reins and stopped the horses next to Cowboy and said, "Son, you look terrible!"  Cowboy told his story of the prairie dog mounds and the wise old driver said "Throw yer saddle and gear up on top and climb up here with me. Give them feet a rest. We can pony yer horse behind."  Cowboy said "Thanks, I'll take you up on that but we don't need to tie Gunner.  He will follow me anywhere".

The cache is a small bottle camoflaged and not too hard to find. It could be muddy at times. It could have some debris thrown from passing cars.
