2/3 dedicated to a series of cross-community camps organised by the police which i attended between 1997-98. Each of these camps were a fantastic way of bringing kids from different schools and backgrounds in the South Arma and South Down area and integrating them together with various fun activities. For me personally, each camp was a very different experience and i will always be grateful for the memories and the lessons on respecting others that they taught me.
Following my first camp at Ardnavalley, south Belfast, we returned in July 97 and this time, our base was the old Ballyrashane Primary School. 3 former classrooms became our dorms which all had bunk beds and the old canteen multi-functioned as a dining area, meeting room and dancefloor! The history of Ballyrashane school (also known as Ramore) seems to be a mystery, but sadly, on my return to visit our old base 10 years on in July 07, i found the buildings had been demolished and made into a car-park for the Ballyrashane Creamery. As the success of the business continues to grow, the site has been built over by further on-going extensions of the creamery. Buildings come and go, but the memories live on. Cache container is a black film canister and has been placed near the crossroads beside Ballyrashane Presbyterian Church.
