Geocache Description:

This is a challenge cache.  The container is hidden at the given coordinates.  You must qualify in order to claim the find.  In order to qualify, you stats must show 20 finds of a difficulty of 4.5 AND 20 finds of a terrain of 4.5.

This cache is placed on a path I call the Ridge trail.  The ridge is the dividing line between the Aptos Creek drainage, and Hinckley Creek drainage. On some maps it might be the "pigs trail" or the "bacon trail".  It has been marked "no bikes", but I think 95% of the travelors on this path are mountain bikers riding down the hill.

I worked for a long time on challenges involving 5-star finds.  Eventually I succeeded, but my 4.5 finds were way behind my 5-star finds.   Part of the reason is that sometimes 5* Terrain caches are dilluted by finds that aren't really that difficult to get, if you have the proper equipment.  You can kayak down a river and get 15 easy 5* terrain finds.   Sometimes 5*Difficulty caches are so difficult that all the brains in the bay area are recruited to help solve it, case in point, the Venona series.  This means that many of us can stand on the shoulders of the others and make relatively easy finds.  Sometimes caches are way overrated, resulting in easy finds, but very little satisfaction...  Most of the time caches have a 5* rating because the hiders put a lot of effort and planning into the puzzle or hide.

Caches that are rated 4.5 are not as often overrated.  There are very few easy caches with a rating of 4.5 in it.  You have to struggle with difficult puzzles, hike long miles, sometimes climb trees, use special totts.  Most people trying to fill out their grid, complete their 4.5's after their 5.0's.

This is the first in a series that summarizes how many caches that measure both 4.5 Difficulty or 4.5 Terrain.  You probably want to start working on balancing out your rows and columns, because the last one requires 100, including a minimum of 10 in every square.   Good luck.  I have completed the qualifications for the entire series, and enjoyed the entire process.

Have fun!  The cache is a duct taped preform hanging in a small pine tree right behind a clump of manzanita.  It is 15 feet off the right side (down hill), hanging about chest high.
