Pezdude: It is a sad day as I have unfortunately made the decision to archive this Geocache.
Pezdude's Puzzle Pack #1 was the very first cache I hid about five years ago. It has withstood many tropical storms and frequent visits from cachers both near and far. However, on my most recent maintenance run, I found the cache detached from the tree it was tethered to and its contents scattered around in the mud. The log book was separated from its protective baggie and the cache container itself looked like it had taken a massive beating. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this chaos had been caused by a large curious animal. On a positive note, although the original log book was soaked through and through, we managed to save it and all logged visits can still be read.
Due to personal reasons (i.e. moving to another state for work) I can no longer maintain this cache as I much as I would like to. I also don't want to burden my friends and family with regular up keep. This destruction of the cache has solidified the fact that it is finally time to retire this geocache.
I doubt this log will be seen by any of the local cachers but I wanted to thank everyone who solved these puzzles and made the trek out to this cache. I was nervous to place a cache out into the world, but it was welcomed with open arms by the local cache community.
The cache originally contained a disposable camera and finders of the cache were invited to snap a photo with it. I was so excited to see all of the great photos when I finally had the film developed. You can find these photographs in the gallery.
To this gallery I am also adding a photo taken the day I hid the cache and a photo of restored log book.
Thank you for all of the memories and happy caching to all!
