This cache is located in Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (Formerly known as John U. Lloyd State Park.)On July 1, 2016, this park was renamed Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park in honor of two individuals who led efforts to change the “colored beach” into a state park in 1973 and create appropriate access to that beach for residents.
Hours: The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. Fees: Admission Fee: $6.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle. $4.00 Single-occupant vehicle or motorcycle. $2.00 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass. Boat Launch Fee: $9.00 Parking is plentiful in the area.
This park provides an abundance of recreational activities. Surf fishing, canoeing, swimming, nature study, boating, and picnicking will keep the whole family busy. For those interested in South Florida's underwater beauty, this park has one of the easiest and most interesting shore dives in the area. The park has two boat ramps with easy access to the ocean through the Port Everglades Inlet, which will please those who prefer to fish in open water. The mangrove-lined waterway is a scenic place to canoe, observe bird life, and take photographs. Grab a bite to eat at the Whiskey Creek Hideout. Located off A1A in the City of Hollywood.
