Construit au 19ème siècle, ce clocheton abrite l'une des plus vieilles cloches d'Ile-de-France.
Pour en connaître la date de fabrication, il suffit de lire l'inscription taillée dans le bronze : "Jehan Jouvente me fist l'an mil CCC LXIIII". Ce qui, dans une langue plus moderne et après traduction des chiffres romains en chiffres arabes davantage utilisés de nos jours, nous informe à la fois du nom de l'auteur, le fondeur de cloches Jean Jouvente, et de l'année à laquelle il fabriqua cette cloche, 1364.
A cette époque, une halle est érigée en bois sur cet emplacement, afin de réunir les commerçants.
Depuis cette date, la cloche a été utilisée pour sonner l'alarme chaque fois qu'un péril menaçait la commune, comme lors de son occupation par les Allemands pendant la Bataille de la Marne en septembre 1914.
Preuve de son importance historique, cet objet imposant de plus de 40 centimètres de diamètre, propriété de la commune, a été placé en 1942 sur la liste des objets classés Monument Historique. La localisation actuelle du clocheton n'est plus exactement celle d'origine, puisqu'il a été déplacé en 1840. De forme ronde, utilisé un temps comme abribus, le clocheton a fait l'objet d'une rénovation qui lui rend aujourd'hui ses lettres de noblesses.

Built in the 19th century, the bell tower houses one of the oldest bells in the Ile-de-France.
To find the date of manufacture, just read the inscription carved in stone: "Jehan Jouvente me fist one thousand CCC LXIIII." Which, in a more modern language informs us of both the author's name, the bell founder Jean Jouvente, and the year to which he manufactured this bell (in 1364).
At that time, a hall was built of wood on this site to gather merchants. Since then, the bell was used to sound the alarm whenever danger threatened the town, as during its occupation by the Germans during the Battle of the Marne in September 1914.
Proof of its historical importance, this item imposing more than 40 centimeters in diameter, owned by the municipality, was placed in 1942 on the list of objects classified historical monument.
The current location of the steeple is not exactly the original one, since it was moved in 1840.
Round shaped, used for a time as bus shelter, the steeple has been renovated, which brings it back to its former glory.
