Welcome to the Mt Hitchcock cache!

While I named this cache Mt Hitchcock it actually shouldn't take you much effort to find this one - no mountaineering is involved!

Background

I'm always up for a challenge and at the 2014 Berkshire Geobash I was talking with fellow geocachers about the Massachusetts 351 Challenge Cache (GC48CR5). I was surprised to see that there were only two active caches in Wales MA ... and decided to help out with an additional cache.

Getting Here

While your GPS will probably get you (and your vehicle) pretty close to this cache please take care to check out what roads you'll be traveling on. Some may be gravel, some may be closed at times. If you choose the right approach you'll find the cache is located off of a paved road and should be accessible year round.

The Cache

When I started geocaching there weren't many caches and most took some effort to get to (e.g., a hike in the woods, etc.) I wanted to place a cache in Wales MA that was easy to find but not necessarily on the main road like a P&G. Hopefully you'll find the diversion to this location worthy of your find.

You're looking for a waterproof camouflaged container- like a bison tube - approximately 2 inches long by 1/2 inches diameter (5 x 1 cm). It is off the ground which should make it good for winter finds as well. Also: the foliage is pretty heavy here which will degrade the accuracy of your GPS readings. Geosense (and maybe the hint) will ultimately work better than technology! BYOP and be sure to re-hide such that no part of it is visible to muggles.
