This is a series of caches hidden by VFDirector or me. We are members of Sweet Adelines International, a world wide singing organization for women, who sing 4-part a cappella music in the barbershop style. Vienna-Falls Chorus is the name of the local chorus we belong to and it’s located in Fairfax, VA. Each cache we hide will have a music related theme, often specifically related to barbershop harmony.
Barbershop Harmony is a style of a cappella, or unaccompanied vocal music, characterized by four-part chords. Barbershop music is sung by both men and women and it is sung in both quartets and in choruses. Each of the four parts has its own role: generally, the lead sings the melody, the tenor harmonizes above the melody, the bass sings the lowest harmonizing notes, and the baritone completes the chord, usually below the lead. Barbershop Harmony is based upon chords (especially Dominant seventh chords) in harmonic progressions, resolving around the circle of fifths.
There are two businesses here side by side, which inspired me to place this cache here.
