Among all the historic markers in the beautiful town of Castine, this one tells a gruesome tale that does not end well for three early settlers from 1692. Located on Battle Avenue, this ridge line gives wonderful views of Castine Harbor and Penobscot bay all the way down to Dyce's Head Lighthouse. Near the cache is the Adams art gallery that is open during summer and fall season, stop in a view some wonderful paintings by two local artists.
There are numerous caches along the way through the historic parts of the town. Enjoy a the scenery and after treat yourself to some ice cream down at the town dock!
Note: Sadly the historic sign has been removed but you can still see it in the gallery. Many other historic signs in the city are removed for the winter
