OK locals don't get upset at the "misspelling" of your beloved Bon Ami Rocks. The town of Dalhousie is famous for its long running Bon Ami Festival not to mention there's a pub, convenience store and a take-out with Bon Ami in its name.
A little history lesson for locals and visitors alike: The rocks were named after Peter Bonamy who is considered to be Dalhousie's first European settler who in 1788 was granted a parcal of land which included the rocks and the point. At first the entire area was known as Bonamy's Point in government documents. Later a play on words was born "Bon Ami" which translate to "Good Friend". Interesting to note, on google maps these rocks are still labelled as the "Bonamy Rocks".
