The Peaceful Ponds of Letchworth Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sapience Trek: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Caches archived for lack of maintenance or response cannot be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

NYSP Permit # LSP-72

The Peaceful Ponds of Letchworth will take you to another out of the way hidden gem in Letchworth State Park away from the hustle and bustle of the more beaten path. We are all quite familiar with the Trout Pond but there is a whole other habitat hidden in the woods behind it. I first got to explore this area while trying to find Brogan's Meadow Wood Acres cache. Come to find out the cache was muggled and archived a short time later but the scenery, the trails, the surroundings, and the hidden ponds were spectacular views and even though I did not find the cache I was grateful to see this area. A few months later I found myself in this area again when I was doing the GPS-O virtual cache. I was once again taken in by the beauty that is on display here. There were not any caches here since Meadow Wood was archived and this place really needs a cache to get you back into some of Letchworths most magnificent scenery. In my opinion, this cache embodies what caching is to me and I hope you enjoy finding it as much as I did setting it up.

You will be looking for a five stage multicache hidden along Trail 2A and 3 in Letchworth State Park. Trail 3 starts in a small parking lot by the south corner of the Trout Pond. The trail is well defined and you should not have any problem moving from stage to stage. Please stay on the trail until you are almost to the stage before going off trail if you must. The round trip hike will be just shy of 2 miles. This cache is family friendly and should be no problem for the kiddies to make the journey plus the extra eyes may come in handy (insert evil laugh here). All legs are well concealed and can be found by just carefully moving something or close examination. Please do not break, tear, and rip apart the surroundings. This area of the park sees a lot of use. Please pay attention on how the legs are hidden when they are found and rehide the legs in the same manner to keep muggles eyes off them to make it just as fun (or just as hard) for the next cacher. If something happens and you are not able to rehide the leg please let me know.Letchworth State Park is open daily from 6am to 11pm. Please do not attempt this cache outside of these hours. There is a fee to enter the park from 9am to 5pm.

Thank you to Park Manager Roland Beck for supporting Geocaching in the park and taking the time to meet with cache owners wishing to get caches approved.
