Depending on which way you approach this cache on Dixie Highway, you will encounter yellow peacock crossing signs or a giant manta ray (no kidding). The peacocks, which are common in Rio (pronounced "rye-oh"), are part of actress/singer Frances Langford's legacy. Langford, a Hollywood star in the 1930s and 1940s, had a huge number of peacocks as part of her home in the area. Langford died in 2005, but the descendants of her peacocks remain and are part of what many consider to be Rio's charm. As for the giant manta ray, I don't know much about it except that it is pretty darned cool. It's so big it's visible on Google Earth. If you spot any peacocks, why not stop and snap a photo to post in the gallery?
