Geocache Description:

Mason Island is a mostly uninhabited island off the west coast of Ireland. The island is approximately 1/2 mile long by 1/4 mile wide and is a juxtaposition of long white sandy beaches, rocky coves and huge atlantic rocks.

It is a National Conservation Area that protects the habitat of a large and varied bird population many, of which, nest on the ground in small hollows.

Get a boat from any of the small piers around this rugged coast or even a RIB from Roundstone.

Leave yourself an hour or so to explore this picturesque island. Stroll up from the pier to the cross roads, bring a picnic and sit on a sandy beach or, if the weather allows, go for a dip in the stunning turquoise water.

The cache is a small camouflaged tupperware container. No stones need to be moved. Placed in accordance with geocaching 'Leave no trace' principles.
