Geocache Description:

The cache is at the posted coordinates! Please use stealth, as this can be a busy park.

Please be careful with the cammo and return everything back to the way it was when you found it so that this one does not go missing.

The 7 Souviners of August started to make me think of a challenge that would be fun. So I looked at our statistics page and noticed that there are 20 different cache types that a cacher may be (or may have been) able to find that are counted within the stats. There is another that is not on the list, but could be found and logged - Benchmarks. [CO - note on 9/2/19 - There now is another type of cache type in Alaska - the Lab Cache. This one will also be counted as a bonus.] Looking over the list of cache types, I determined that 10 of them are available here in Alaska. Thus the challenge - you have to have logged all 10 cache types! So, here are the ground rules:

  1. Since this is an Alaska challenge, all caches listed must be Alaska caches.
  2. All of the caches must still be active at the time you log the find (exception for event caches).
  3. Since event caches are archived shortly after the event, you must have attended the event within the last 9 months of logging the find. Also, we will allow the organizer of the event to log the event, just add the note CO.
  4. As two of the cache types have only one active cache or all of the active caches are by the same owner, the CO may claim their hide, just add the note CO.
  5. List the GC number and date found (name optional)
  6. To be considered an Ultimate All-around Alaska Cacher - log an Alaska Benchmark and as of 9/2/19 one of the Lab Caches (optional - these two are not required to log the find).

With all of that said, here would be our qualifying caches:

  • Traditional - GC1398W Some Gave All - 6/11/12
  • Earthcache - GC2FG1Z The Alaska range - 6/11/12
  • Event - GC56PXP GeoCruise 4th of July Meet N Greet - 7/4/14
